About ExoExplorer
What is ExoExplorer?
ExoExplorer is a full-stack project built around three ideas: explore real data, imagine responsibly, and hunt in the open. The ExoAtlas side visualizes more than 6,000 confirmed exoplanets straight from the NASA Exoplanet Archive, with habitability scoring, JWST atmosphere data, and real TESS light curves — nothing here is simulated or invented.
The ExoLifedesign studio lets you imagine alien life for any of those worlds, constrained by each planet's actual measured conditions. The AI-generated images and lore are speculative art, not scientific predictions — we label them that way everywhere they appear, on principle.
ExoHunteris an open research lab: an autonomous ML pipeline (Gooper-1) that searches TESS light curves for new planet candidates, with its honest results — including where it disagrees with NASA's own ExoMiner classifier — published rather than hidden.

Licensing
ExoExplorer uses a dual license: the application code is licensed under GPL-3.0-only. AI-generated content — alien images, lore texts, and exported alien/planet cards — is licensed separately under CC BY-NC 4.0, so it can be shared and remixed non-commercially with attribution, but not sold. External code contributions are accepted under the CLA in CONTRIBUTING.md. The underlying NASA mission data itself remains public domain / subject to NASA's own usage policies.
